Accounts Receivable Job Description

The accounts receivable job description is to understand the common accountancy job requirements and general expectations for an accounts receivable clerk in the organization. The job of the accounts receivable personal is to provide financial, clerical and administrative services to ensure efficient, timely and accurate payment of accounts under his or her control.

The duties and responsibilities of the accounts receivable officer is to follow up, collection and allocation of payments carry out billing and maintain up-to-date billing system.

The candidates also has to collect and report activities according to specific deadlines and monitoring customer account details for non-payments, delayed payments and other irregularities and reconciliation of accounts and maintain accounts receivable customer files.

The accounts receivable officer also has to follow established procedures for processing receipts cash etc. and prepare bank deposits

The duty is also to investigate and resolve customer queries and answer them and if required process adjustments and organizing a recovery system and initiate collection efforts.

The candidate also the responsible of communicating with customers via phone, email, mail or personally.

Skills and specialisations required by the candidate is the ability to pay attention to detail and accuracy and must also possess strong interpersonal skills, organizational skills, problem-solving skills, decision-making skills, negotiation skills and conflict management skills. The candidate must have good communication skills both oral and written and must also have stress tolerance and must be able to efficiently finish work with in deadlines.

Education and Experience required by the officer is that he/she should have a bachelors or a master degree in accounts management and must have the knowledge of accounts receivable and general bookkeeping procedures and the knowledge of office administration and procedures and a proficient in relevant computer applications. The applicant must also possess 1-3 years accounts receivable and general accounting experience.
